Week 9 – Continuing with research into autism. Purchased books to start reading. Needing to try understand autism further. This week I spoke to a teacher from Howford Primary school in Glasgow where 58% of the children have autism. This allowed me to ask her what kinds of challenges they face in day to day life. Many of the challenges she identified overlapped with some I had already determined. The main insight gathered so far is that every autistic child she has came across has a subject that they go to, in order to get away from the struggles of real life. It ranges from music and tv shows to objects like trains and buses. In the coming weeks arrangements have been made to go into Howford school to do a workshop with autistic children.
